I was very excited to do a Q+A with Talk Taxis, they appear to be gathering quite a storm and 'No Worries' has been doing the rounds on a CD in my car so this is what happened when they were posed questions
Here it is
How did you lot get together in the first place?
Through school and friends of friends.
What are your plans for the near future?
We have taken a lot of time out of gigs to write new material.
Where can the masses find you playing?
Nowhere at the moment but in a few months we will be back on tour and hopefully with an afro on guitar.
Have you got any up and coming bands you would recommend?
Derek Meins, is probably the best performer and modern poet I have ever had the privilege to know.
Melodica, Melody and Me are good friends of ours and desereve big things.
The Lost Boys are quite an experience
Lyrebirds have one of the best songs I’ve heard for a long time called ‘Lotus’.
And Mumford and Sons are going to be HUGE!!!!
Who are your musical influences?
We all listen to so much music it is pretty hard to pick direct influences, I really respect modern lyricists such as Roots Manuva, and Conor Oberst but I grew up listening to Dylan, Cohen, Springsteen, Van Morrison and a lot of untouchable lyricists.
What makes you lot different from other bands?
We just want to be a rock’n’roll band. The last thing I want is to be part of a scene, it makes you look like a phase.
I read you have toured with Jack Penate. Where he has disappeared to?
Yea, that was a lot of fun, that was when he was doing like club nights I think, his following has grown a lot since then.
He is working on his new album, I think it’s out soon. He played me a few of the songs and they are real dance pop songs.
He’s been playing a few festivals this year I think.
Any plans for any more Talk Taxis TV?
My camera broken so we have no way of filming, but im sure there will be another episode soon.
Probably the next time we tour or record.
Thanks a lot for your time, and I wish you the best of luck getting an album out and getting more and more people to appreciate how good you lot are! Any last words?
Oscar Wilde will rise again.
Cheers,
Will
