Underage Festival

Today, me and 7000 other 14-18 year olds descended on Victoria Park for the second Underage Festival, quite a sound idea I thought, and loads of bands who I wanted to see were playing. It was simply like being in Topman and Topshop with a few quirky characters trying to stand out making an appearance. Arrr the youth/alts of today. Aside from that, which turned out to be entertainment in itself, it boasted an impressive lineup, but I didn't see who I really wanted to. I missed Florence and the Machine because of The Maccabees and I left before The Rascals played. However, it really turned out that the best bit wasn't really the music because but just finding a place to chill, I couldn't get into any of the bands playing but the day had it's definate musical highpoints. The best being wandering over to the Domino stage and hearing the opening riff from The Wild Beast's 'Devil's Crayon' which was just brilliant then other highlights was Glasvegas's 'Geraldine' and The Maccabee's 'Latchmere'.
The disappointment of the day came from Team Waterpolo who I was expecting to like judged on their single 'Letting Go' which is brilliant infectious pop, but it turned into a McFly affair, becuase these Preston boys with broad Northern accents proceeded to sing songs as if they were from Orange County. Sorry but it's a pet hate of mine!
Well that's about it in musical terms, apart from Dizzee Rascal definately getting the biggest crowd of the day with the indie kids all running towards the stage as soon as they heard the intro of 'Jus' A Rascal', so overall I didn't really enjoy it in terms of the music, but the people I was with made it such a funny day so it didn't matter.

Letting Go - Team Waterpolo

About Your Dress - The Maccabees

Devil's Crayon - Wild Beasts
